I have finally found it
after more than a year of searching,
something useful to do with WAP.
Train operator
website, National Rail, has introduced a new experimental system
on its main website where you can access live timetable information
for UK train stations.
And, lo and
behold, they have introduced the system on WAP mobile phones
a godsend for the traveller!
Although the
current trial system has quite a few gaps in coverage most
notably Londons Paddington station both main Bristol
stations are represented.
At present,
none of the smaller stations around the city, such as stations on
the Severn Beach line are covered although the departures
from Temple Meads are.
The beauty of
the system is that now you can monitor how your train to work, or
train home, to see if it is running on time or not.
The website
offers pretty in-depth and easy to use information. Select the station,
hit go, and you will see the departures and delays.
The WAP site
is pretty much as easy to use. You can either type in "Bristol",
or select the city from the regionalised menu system.
Combine this
with GPRS always-on functionality, and you will be a
good few steps ahead of your fellow commuters.
