Laura checks out La Rocca
Laura in the middle
by Laura Francis
BBC Bristol website reporter
The web team's newest party animal is Laura Francis who spent a night at La Rocca to check out the scene and wise you up on what to expect.

Laura is a second year politics student at Bristol University.
Get into that 80s groove at cheesefest La Rocca Tuesday's

If cheese, cheese and more cheese is your taste in music then Chuckles at La Rocca is for you.

Situated on the "wrong" side of the triangle, the only clue that we were heading into a club was the "tasteful" neon sign above our heads.

No mile-long queues plague this club.

Once inside the time-warp continues as the décor has a certain feel of the 80s. Lots of leg warmers and leotards, reminiscent of films like ‘Flashdance’ and ‘Girls Just Want To Have Fun’.

To complete the look there are black and white tiles and mirrors lining the walls on the dance floor.

There is also a seating area with a bar, which almost makes you feel as if you are in a pub.

Check out who Laura snapped on her night out

This club is small and cosy in comparison to many of Bristol’s clubs. Two bars, in this small club, serve to hydrate clubbers.

With prices for drinks starting at £1.50 for a "chuckles" cocktail or Bacardi Breezer and going up to £2.50 for a double vodka and mixer.

The DJ continued to blast out all the mainstream classics, from Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears to the Monkees, ensuring the dance floor constantly had people strutting their stuff.

However disappointingly for the capacity of the club there was far too much room to dance.

All in all had a really fun night as I was out with a large group of friends.

If you want an alternative to some of the other cheesy clubs then this is the place to come … I will definitely be "spreading the chuckles"!

Best Bit: Room to dance unlike a night out in some of La Rocca’s competitors.

Worst Bit: Not enough people needed more people to create more atmosphere.

Value for Money: £3 entry or £2.50 on guestlist.

Chuckles at La Rocca every Tuesday 10pm – 2am last entry at 1am
