Fingercuffs big break at The Fleece
Fingercuffs
Bristol band Fingercuffs has scored! The lads will be on stage at rockin' music venue The Fleece in the company of record bods who are officially coming to hear 13 Senses.
Fingercuffs are Simon Whetham, Pete Ashman, Vince Bryant and Phil Hall

This is their big chance and they're determined to make the most of it.

The band has received airplay on XFM, Star FM and Bath FM, as well as raking in favourable reviews of their self-recorded and produced mini album 'Built-in', and current demo, 'Champion the Underdog'.

Now their time in the spotlight is close enough to lick.

Fingercuffs was born from a recording project and frustration, leading to our heroes taking the drum machine they were rehearsing with out on the road.

With the recent addition of second guitarist Vince Bryant and drummer Phil Hall, Fingercuffs has played at The Naval Volunteer and The Reckless Engineer, bursting balloons and hearts each time - aww bless!

Fingercuffs are an unusual idea - a rock band who use a drum machine - that'll be where the Kraftwerk influences comes in then.

Nick Collings - he of Alternative Rock Review - checked out the title track on 'Champion of The Underdog' and found, "Whetham singing between the low rumbling guitar riffs interspersed with a cut-away bass line along with downcast lyrics like "Take back all you've been given" and "These bruises start to show now, put on that second skin".

"Fingercuffs can summon a diverse mixture of comparisons to Joy Division, Bush and Sonic Youth without sounding specifically like any of them. Very promising, the next full-length release should provide fascinating listening to see how far Fingercuffs can go."

Fingercuffs play The Fleece Monday Sept 22.
