For the first time in five years New York house DJ Hary Choo Choo Romero is in Bristol.

Harry will play the launch of a brand new club night called ‘Funktion’ at Creation.

Unleaded, the promoters say the new monthly funky house night will "feature a broad selection of the world’s most talented DJs".

And that brings us nicely onto Harry Romero.

He is renowned for his seamless club mixes that combine Soulful House with uplifting US Garage and Latino funk.

His first record, "Urban Turban" wove Arabic scatting with house grooves.

He is part of Erick Morillo’s Subliminal Records based in New York.

Harry has worked with a whole host of legendary labels like: Gossip, Strictly Rythym; Defected, Perfecto and AM:PM.

He is a member of several production outfits including ‘Ministers De La Funk’ and the ‘Dronez’ which both include Subliminal Records Erick Morillo and Jose Nunez. Some of his most famous tracks include: “Hazin and Phazin” and the massive “Believe” which featured the mighty Jocelyn Brown.

Romero had the distinct advantage of growing up in a musical family, his mother loved the Latin rhythms, while his father, a former opera tenor, recited his classic scales and listened to Beethoven.

As a result, Harry constantly looks to expand musically.
