Cary Grant was indeed born in Hughenden Rd, Horfield in January 1904. (The 1901 census confirms his parents, Elsie & Elias Leach, were living there at that time). He went to Bishop Rd school (wonder why he didn't go to Ashley Down Road school which was closer??) and then subsequently Fairfield. The 1911 census, when it's available, will confirm his address at age 7.

Cary Grant's mother lived in Henleaze. He often used to visit her after he became a star. He stayed at the Hotel, can't remember its name, just up from the Centre towards the Cathedral. I saw the contribution from Peter Manning who went to Ashley Down School. I went there, too. Are you a relative of Tony Manning, who was a close friend of mine?
