Capturing the essence of carnival

On Friday 4 July the BBC was in St Pauls reporting on the final preparations for carnival 2003.

From 1200 BST, John Turner's programme came live from the green on Grosvenor Road.

John was joined by Orin Gordon from the BBC's Caribbean Service and part of the programme will be heard across the Caribbean!

Hear a whole host of people involved in carnival from those crafting costumes and food, to the volunteers making music and teaching dance moves.

And find out how local residents are preparing for the big day on Saturday.

Amirah Cole and Mark Ramzan will help present Points West

On Friday, two guest presenters (Mark Ramzan and Amirah Cole from carnival) were joining Saima Moshin on BBC Points West at 1830.

The three of them were reporting the latest from St Pauls on the eve of the carnival.

Meet the some of the performers, take a look at the BBC News on Tour roadshow and revisit the build-up to carnival over the last few weeks, including some special unseen footage.
