The Passion

In the run up to Easter, listen to the story of The Passion here on the BBC Bristol website.

The Passion

Kevin Moloney read the story for us

It can be easy to forget in today's over commercialised world but Easter is not just about holidays and chocolate eggs.

Easter is the most important Christian festival. It celebrates Jesus Christ's resurrection from the dead, three days after he was executed.

Jesus was crucified on Good Friday and his body was buried in a cave. The following Sunday some women visited the grave and found that the tomb was empty.

Jesus was sighted for days afterwards by many people and his followers realised that he had been resurrected by God.

Kevin Moloney, who is a Deacon in the Clifton Cathedral parish, read extracts for BBC Radio Bristol's Sunday Starts programme - click the link below to listen.

You can tell us your thoughts on this by filling in the form below - we'll feature a selection of comments on this site.

The Passion will also be retold in a new drama that will be shown on BBC One this Easter. The last week of Jesus Christ's life will be told from three different viewpoints: the religious authorities, the Romans and Jesus himself.
