Operatunity winner joins Bath Philharmonia for New Year Gala
The Theatre Royal Bath's New Year's Eve Gala counts down to 2008 with a concert of music and song, as Bath Philharmonia perform with Operatunity winner Jane Gilchrist.
The concert, on Monday, 31 December 2007, celebrates New Year's Eve with a programme of opera, operetta and popular and classical favourites conducted by Jason Thornton.
It features arias from Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro, Ivor Novello's The Dancing Years, pieces by Puccini and Franz Lehar, Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance and, of course, Auld Lang Syne.
Jane Gilchrist shot to fame during the television Talent Show Operatunity.
She went on to perform the role of Gilda in Verdi’s Rigoletto with the English National Opera at The Coliseum in front of two million TV viewers.
Since then, her many performances have included The Royal Albert Hall, Proms In The Park, Belfast’s Last Night Of The Proms and she has featured on numerous television shows.
Bath Philharmonia has established itself as one of the leading professional ensembles in the South West of England, boasting some of the finest and most experienced orchestral players in Britain.
The orchestra is involved in 25 to 30 performances annually throughout the region.
