The concert, on Monday, 31 December 2007, celebrates New Year's Eve with a programme of opera, operetta and popular and classical favourites conducted by Jason Thornton.

It features arias from Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro, Ivor Novello's The Dancing Years, pieces by Puccini and Franz Lehar, Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance and, of course, Auld Lang Syne.

Jane Gilchrist shot to fame during the television Talent Show Operatunity.

She went on to perform the role of Gilda in Verdi’s Rigoletto with the English National Opera at The Coliseum in front of two million TV viewers.

Since then, her many performances have included The Royal Albert Hall, Proms In The Park, Belfast’s Last Night Of The Proms and she has featured on numerous television  shows.

The orchestra is involved in 25 to 30 performances annually throughout the region.

After Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Bath Philharmonia is the largest professional organisation of its type in the cultural sector in the South West of England.

The New Year’s Eve Gala takes place at the Theatre Royal Bath on Monday, 31 December at 10pm.  Ticket prices range from £28 - £36.50.
