Match reports

Fry Club Colts 0-5 Bromley Heath Utd

Old adversaries from the Under 10s C Division met on 17 September, 2006, for their first clash playing 11-a side in the under 11s B division and it was Bromley Heath who came out on top, notching up a 5-0 victory.

Fry Club had an early corner in the first half but after this it was Bromley who became the dominant force.

Within seven minutes they had scored their first goal when good passing play up the field allowed Luke Newell to hit a cracking shot from a distance which beat the goalkeeper for Bromley’s first.

Fry Club then had a free kick that was well collected by George Farmer in goal for Bromley and following on from this the ball was played up the field to find Tommy Brain who played a lovely pass into Josh Shambrook, who chipped the goalkeeper for Bromley’s second.

Excellent play by the Bromley defence throughout the match meant it was very hard for Fry Club to make any breakthrough on goal.

Bromley’s third goal was a lovely individual effort by Michael Norley, running up the left side of the pitch, past two Fry Club players before placing the ball in the back of the net.

Bromley kept the pressure on and Josh Shambrooks second goal of the match meant Bromley found themselves 4-0 up at half time.

In the second half Fry Club came out showing some good fighting spirit and had a couple of early corners which were solidly defended by the Bromley boys.

Bromley then had a goal by Anthony Llewellyn disallowed for offside (tricky business this staying onside!) but he continued to pressure the Fry Club goal eventually scoring with a well judged goal past the Fry Club keeper.

Fry Club kept coming at the Bromley goal and George Farmer had a number of catches to collect from shots which were well directed by players from Fry Club.

Frys were awarded a penalty when Harry Parker in defence for Bromley had a bit of a “mare” and brought one of the Fry Club players down in the box.

The penalty was taken but went straight towards George Farmer in goal who made his second penalty save in two weeks.

Fry Club then had a number of corners but were unable to convert any into goals and Bromley had another goal disallowed for that tricky little rule known as offside!

The final result was 5-0 to Bromley who played some good passing football throughout the match.
