The programme kicks off on Saturday, 16 September 2006, with an evening of bat spotting complete with real life bat detector gadgets. Avon Bat Group will be your guides and will help you get to know the mysterious creatures. Two weeks later local author Geraldine Taylor will read extracts of her wildlife diary during a walk. She will also show off her favourite spots on the gorge on the Sunday, 1 October event.
Other walks during autumn include a look at whitebeam trees and a chance to find out about different types of leaves. The first course on the Avon Gorge takes place on Saturday, 23 September, and focuses on sketching landscapes. Su Lees, Bristol Zoo’s wildlife illustrator, will look at techniques such as composition and shading. If your children are interested in art then there is a kids' event on Thursday, 26 October. The Avon Wildlife Trust will be helping youngsters aged 8-12 create pictures using seeds, nuts and berries.
