Since the historic peace deal was signed on Monday 9 January, prospects of a better life for those in the war-torn country of Sudan have improved but there is still much to do to rebuild shattered lives and communities. In repsonse to the situation, musicians involved with the breakbeat scene have come together to produce a cd compilation "because we wanted to help the people of Sudan in this great time of need."

Seen initially as inferior to house, garage and drum & bass it didn't receive the high profile of other genres. But things have changed. Breakbeat is now bigger than it has ever been with many clubs eager to fill the main room with the scene's leading DJs. Blowpop is one of the biggest in the UK and rightly so. The new album carries with it hopes of bringing breakbeat music to the masses while raising money to support Oxfam's work in Sudan. Tracks from the likes of Shut Up And Dance, Rennie Pilgrem, the Plump DJs, Boabinga, Stanton Warriors, Krafty Kuts, Skool Of Thought & Aquasky have been contributed. There are some exclusive, previously unreleased tracks, Hope Time (Stanton Warriors), Krufty Kuts (The Ill Funk Vip Mix), Body Rock (Hyper), Worm Hole (Quest & Odyssey), designed to get hands into pockets in order to boost the relief work. There are also some killer up front new tracks, Fuego (Rennie Pilgrim), The Session (Boabinga), Uptalking (Jammin), Jack (So Ride Me) Friendly, & Reclaim The Streets (Tectro Mix) Shut Up And Dance, The Charming guys themselves have thrown in a few classics for good measure, Take It Easy, Shine Eye, And The Green Man.
