The legendary Eric Morcambe is a great example. A classic comedian who always appeared most at home just being silly. Lee Mack, who is often compared to Morcambe, has that very same playfulness, and an ability to turn an audience to stitches with nothing more than a well-timed wry look or well-placed witty comment. Constantly inventive, his material matches his silly on-stage demeanour perfectly and always strikes home. Covering all bases of subject matter, his cheeky, lively approach makes every subject as accessible and funny as the last, in the way only the very best comedians can. Not sketchy Nominated for the prestigious Barry Humphries Award in 2003 for his sell out show at the Melbourne Comedy Festival, he was invited back to play at the 2004 festival followed by a two-week run at the Sydney Opera House. As well as being a solid headline act on the international circuit, Mack is also the familiar face of the BAFTA award winning Sketch Show, which following two series on ITV1 has since been picked up by American TV network Fox. In the US remake Mack, the only member of the original UK cast, stars alongside Frasier and Cheers star Kelsey Grammer. Now as part of an international tour that takes in much of the UK, from Exeter to the Isle of Mull, together with Paris and Milan, he is coming to Bristol for just one night only. Within a few short years Mack is without doubt going to be filling large venues around the country, so take this chance to see him now in a club environment while you still can. You will not be disappointed. Lee Mack plays The Comedy Box on Saturday 15 January. Doors 7:45, all tickets £12.
