Events across the Bristol area ranged from small personal sacrifices, such as male leg waxing and water fights to major company-wide fund raisers.
The BBC's Children in Need Appeal celebrated its 25th anniversary in style, with hundreds of fund-raising events taking place across the country. Nationwide more than £17m was pledged and organisers are hoping for a record.
Here in the West more than £542,000 was raised, with more money still being counted. But what sort of wacky goings on were making the cash?
Well, Ross Grant, a Year 11 student from Henbury School had his shoulder-length black hair shaved off to a mohican in assembly on Friday and raised around £450. Samantha Radford and collegues at the Post Office Financial Services raised £260 with a cake and coffee sale, raffle, Playstation competition, selling Pudsey accessories and by male managers dressing as women for the day.

Rose Clements said children at St John's School in Highbridge dressed as pantomime characters, made lines of coins and had a bring and buy sale to raise well over £300. Meanwhile Constellation Europe in Bristol raised £471 for Children in Need and at Henriques Griffiths Solicitors, Bryan Pitt had his beard shaved off for the first time in more than 20 years. Staff, friends and supporters raised £689. And Sarah Hopkins and staff at the Government Office for the South West put their hands in their pockets for a bake sale, raising more than £158. |
