Moor View Park

Moor View Park, or Moor View Community Garden as it is known to some, is desperately in need of improvement and is the only green space within easy reach for the people of Mutley in Plymouth.

The park's name is a little vague - there is a seat in it with the name Moor View Community Garden, but locals call it various names (Mutley Park, that park behind Mutley Plain, etc), and the council calls it Moor View Park.

Plans for the Future

The aim is to create a new style 'village green' in this urban environment as a focal point for the whole community. The funding will be used to provide children’s play facilities, seating and picnic tables, as well as careful planting to attract and sustain wildlife. Also on the cards are plans to improve access so that the park can be more easily used and enjoyed by people with disabilities.

Another thing they'd like to do is give it a new name when the improvements have been completed, as there is also an electoral ward in Plymouth called Moorview, which is nowhere near Mutley or the park. the local residents will need to be consulted, but one suggestion so far, is that it be renamed Mutley Village Green.
