Ten
years since this shock 'n' roll circus first reared its ugly head
at the Glastonbury Festival, the relentless and legendary Circus
Of Horrors world tour is about to roll into the fair West Yorkshire
town, its avowed intent being to horrify Huddersfield with its hair-raising
acts.
It's a case of 'Roll up! Roll up...If you dare!' with members of
the Circus describing what's on offer in January 2005 as 'bigger
and badder than ever'.
Crashing into Huddersfield Town Hall on Tuesday 18th January, anyone
without a strong constitution should probably keep away as the audience
is promised a visit into a twisted world presided over by The Undead
Ringmaster Doktor Haze.
He's promising to bring those brave enough face-to-face with oddities
and circus acts including vampires flying through the air suspended
only by their hair and Garry Stretch - who has the stretchiest skin
in the world!
If
you've never heard of the Circus Of Horrors, then their horrible
history goes like this:
 |
| Ouch!
Circus Of Horrors contortionist in action |
The
show was formed in the summer of 1995 and made its debut at the
Glastonbury festival in that year. Since then it's toured extensively
across the globe, including Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and Holland
and in festival dates throughout the UK, Ireland and Germany, plus
an unprecedented 29 weeks at Camden's Roundhouse!
It
has even performed at lots of high profile events like the Edinburgh
Festival (three times!), on a cameo role on 'London's Burning' and
on 'Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway.
If that wasn't enough, these freaks have also performed with Robbie
Williams for Prince Charles' televised 50th Birthday Party plus
lots of its acts have been featured on Davina McCall's Don't tTry
This AT Home, The Jerry Springer Show, Guinness World Records and
on Graham Norton. The
Circus has even appeared alongside Cradle Of Filth in their Burial
Gown video.
Huddersfield may not quite be Gotham City or Transylvania, but For
One Night Only it looks set to be transformed into a weird and wonderful
place. And despite the fact the Circus is coming to town, there's
not a clown in sight...
Now, that WOULD be scary!
