Over 1.3 million children a year are involved in bullying and even adults are affected. Thirty to fifty per cent of stress related illness in the workplace are blamed on bullying.

Left out
Robert Higgs was bullied at school and has written about his experiences and how he overcame them, he explains: "I went through a very rough time at school, I had no answer to the bullying problem I faced and did not understand it. The experience changed me into a shy, depressed teenager I barely recognised.

"I have overcome the bullying and rebuilt my confidence a long time since and I wanted to help anyone else who is suffering as I once did."

A recent CBBC survey found out that:

- Almost two thirds of bullied children said they were bullied every day.
- Two thirds said their schools did nothing to help.
- More than a third said the bullying stopped after they told someone.
- Just over one in 10 boys did not tell anyone about being bullied.
- But more than a quarter of girls kept being bullied to themselves.
- More than two thirds of bullying is verbal, but physical bullying is quite common too.
- Girls are just as likely as boys to be bullied physically.

We caught up with Robert to find out more about his book and how he thinks children can help overcome bullying, read the interview here!
