Bradford's Big Screen

Bradford gets dancing!

If you ever thought ballet was boring, think again! If you've never even THOUGHT of going to the ballet before, think again! Bradford's Big Screen is the place to be to find out all about it - and it's all FREE!

Ballet dancers

Whether you're a first time ballet-goer or a seasoned fan, you'll be able to join people from all over Britain on Thursday 31st May as the all-time family favourite Swan Lake launches a series of truly world-class events right here in Centenary Square. In fact the Square's preparing to become a fantastic free open-air cafe-cinema for the summer so it's time to get out those picnic baskets and deckchairs for the first of four major screenings LIVE from the Royal Opera House in London!

Ellie
Ellie will be there, will YOU?

Even before the main event on Thursday 31st, you'll be able to get a taster of things to come with operatic stiltwalkers strolling around Centenary Square - you won't be able to miss them! - as well as local music groups providing some fab tunes and then there's Tiamero, a classical pop/opera group from Hull who'll be exercising their vocal chords for your entertainment. Who are they? Well they describe themselves as 'four ordinary guys who have extraordinary voices, personality and versatility'. 'Nuff said!

Ellie Burnham from Baildon (pictured right) is very excited about seeing Swan Lake - she'll be in Centenary Square with her family and her very own picnic! Will you?

And that's just the start: it's going to be a BIG summer on the Bradford Big Screen. Not only ballet but opera will be hitting the Screen with Don Giovanni and Tosca being beamed live from London in the next few months, and that's not to mention the Last Night Of The Proms! Miss these great events and you really will be missing out...

Bollywood's also made it to the Big Screen! The Bollywood 'Oscars', the IIFA Awards, come to Yorkshire in June and, as an important part of those celebrations, the Bollywood Fringe is coming to Bradford. You want dance? Fireworks? Spectacle? You can get all that and more in Centenary Square with Bollywood Steps on Friday 8th and Saturday 9th June - and it's all free! There'll also be the Bollywood Bazaar, bringing more than 40 stalls and street entertainment in the city centre and to give you an idea what it's REALLY all about, the Big Screen in Centenary Square will be broadcasting some top Bollywood films throughout!

So, whether you're a culture vulture, a Bollywood fan or just someone who wants to know a bit more about what's happening in your own city, why not make it BIG in Bradford Centenary Square this Summer at the Big Screen?
