Goldstars bring Liversedge down to earth...

By site user Brian Coates
Greetland's Under 17s make things difficult for Liversedge...

Liversedge 0 - 2 Greetland Goldstars
(Ashley O'Shea, Richard Hine)
Huddersfield RCD League - Under 17 - Division 1&2

Goldstars brought title-chasing Liversedge down to earth with a much improved display. The visitors contested well and deserved all three points from a performance which was only marred by a scuffle in the closing minutes.

A competitive first half was edged by Goldstars who should have been in front. A finely worked goal finished by striker Richard Hine was inexplicably ruled off-side. Liversedge's best chance came through a one-on-one with the keeper but Lee McGrath, having a busy game in goal, came out on top.

The second half again saw more pressure from Greetland and the opening goal was a fine header from centre-back Ashley O'Shea who met a cross from Matthew Oldfield. The home side then started to press for the equaliser, but Goldstars kept their shape and were home and dry 10 minutes from time when Hine struck a crisp shot which found the net, and that eased the pressure on the visitors who then saw the game to a close.

Man of the Match: Ashley O'Shea
Runner Up: Richard Hine
