Cleckheaton did not take heed of the ref's warning with another two sin binnings through the game for persistent infringements. The Wibsey pack dominated, making good strong drives from both props. The only try of the game coming in the first half: a penalty tap, prop Bob Wood breaking two tackles, laying the ball back for a quick ball out going through a few pairs of hands of Jamie Vogel going under the posts the conversion was missed by Danny McPherson. Cleckheaton put on a bit of pressure but good tackling by Wibsey kept them at bay, especially second row James Birkbeck who was all over the park making some excellent tackles. But the man of the match was Karl walker, who had a top day at stand off with good ball out and who also stood up to Cleckheaton's biggest players and never took a backward step. Skipper Rob Greenwood also did well staying on the pitch after a late tackle damaged his ribs, even though he could not get round the pitch he was still dominant in the line outs. The team played well but the pack and the backs need to work together a bit more. Try: Jamie Vogel |
