Inspired by the return of Born Survivors, BBC Three has teamed up with the Media Trust to help a selection of young people who have had extraordinary lives to make short films telling their own stories of survival. Nine young people – aged between 16 and 22 – have been taught how to use a camera and with the help of BBC Current Affairs mentors, have created their own short web-only films capturing the trials and tribulations of their lives.
First up is Mirabella. Ferried between relatives and growing up in foster care until the age of nine, Mirabella's upbringing has been more fractured than most. But now back happily living with her mum and anxiously awaiting her A-Level results, Mirabella explains why she feels her family is now closer than ever before. See below for more stories of survival.
