It's been a long time coming but finally Limp Bizkit fans got their hottest record tonight. 'Shotgun' is another Limp Bizkit beast, propelled by Wes Borland's incredible guitar playing and the band's undeniable chemistry. A rare catch-up with Fred Durst unveiled hopes of a UK tour before the end of the year.
Like I said tonight, there's very little mystery in the world of music. Musicians fully understand the importance of a good algorithm and are more often than not willing to use it. In the case of WU LYF, this has been done with a healthy disinterest in the 'new way of doing things' which makes their approach all new. Good thing the music is quality. As proven with tonight's Hottest Record, 'Dirt'. Recorded in a church, the natural ambiance creates event music and, as they break silence, tonight on the show it's become very clear that this is all deliberate. How exciting.
It's very rare that we would do two Hottest Records in a night, but picking between these two new Arcade Fire songs would be impossible, and to be fair interest in the both of them is enormous. Add to the fact that Win Butler spoke to us exclusively about their new music and new film; it was a no-brainer!
Shikari business tonight as Rou took a few minutes out of the new album recording sessons in Thailand to help us introduce the new single 'Quelle Surprise'. Part and parcel with their forthcoming new live album/dvd set... it'll keep fans happy until tour dates. And said album is released around "early next year".
Already a hall of fame act for us this year, C&S - Hitz has now been embellished by a versue and hook combo care of Wretch 32. Hard to improve on perfection, but different and interesting enough to try. Such a banger!
Justin Vernon aka Bon Iver's debut album 'For Emma, Forever Ago' has become a guiding light in the new sense of the singer songwriter movement of the last few years, but it has become clear in the last 12 months that this is not the only side of this exceptional talent. Recent projects like Volcano Choir and his co-productions with Kanye West shine through on tonight's Hottest Record, the wonderful 'Calgary'. Sounds like freedom to me.
It should come as no surprise that brand new Arctic Monkeys has leaked. But I'm sure there is some sense of relief that at this stage its only one song. And to be honest, this will only further pique people's interest in this amazing new album. Full interview to follow soon.
It must pain the nay-sayers to see UK rock band and easy target Brother succeeding, but succedig they are, with particluar interest growing in the US. Their recent performance on David Letterman described as 'sureral' by Lee and high on this momentum they deliver tonight's Hottest Record 'New Year's Day'.
The almighty DJ Shadow returns to his block rocking finest, with tonights Hottest Record 'I Gotta Rokk'. Drums of doom mixed with Shadows' advanced turntablism, once again creates something truly unique from borrowed materials. It's a true art form.
Here we have the first offering from the new LP from Bristol based dubstep Joker. He's always had his own distinctive sound, p-funk anyone?? and The Vision is 100% true to that sound. It's only enhanced by a vocal from the amazing Jessie Ware... HOT!
The party continues for Friendly Fires and their new single Hawaiian Air. White shirts, espadrilles, tank tops & a pre-holiday tan all present and accounted for. This is pure fun in the sun. Expect more of the same from the new album - 'Pala'
Great new weird and wonky Hottest Record from SBTRKT tonight. Featuring Little Dragon, 'Wildfire' is a great song adapted to the sub. Not the other way around. Which is nice.
More big, wide and cinematic hip hop from The Bullitts lands... - is more focused and more direct in sound than its predecessor; 'Close Your Eyes'... The Bullitts Debut album will be out in the summer and hitting The Big Chill Festival to boot. LISTEN.
