Piers Beckley Piers Beckley

As you may already be aware, Sharps is the BBC writersroom open call for new writing talent. There's a £500 bursary, a residential training scheme, and BBC mentoring available for the best scripts on the theme of "The Nation's Health".

You might be working on your entry already. Or perhaps you're already done and chafing at the bit to send it in.

Well, the online application form is now live. So as soon as your script's done, you can send it to us.

The deadline's not till June 16th, though. Why not take the opportunity to look it over one more time, and write another draft before sending it in? See how you can make it just a little bit better?

Sorry to be a bore with a technical question but the on-line application form seems to be playing up - at least it is for me!

It keeps telling me there's an error in my details - though nothing's marked in red and I've corrected them like a zillion times!

Is it just me it doesn't like or am I doing something wrong - eg is there a word limit on the sections where you write your own material?

Help - time is running out to get the script in the post.

    Thanks, Debbo

Just a quick question, but why is necessary to indicate our age next to our submission? We crinklies just get a tad edgy when asked to reveal our seniority for fear of our submission being directed immediatley to the rejection pile.

Debbo: Someone else had this problem, and it was due to the software which deals with applications not liking rude words.

I'll try and get this fixed when I'm next in the office, but if you want to get your application in now, have a quick look to see if there are any swearwords in the application form, and edit them out if there are.

Everyone can swear as much as they like in their scripts.

Kroggy: We need to ask for your age to make sure all applicants are over 18, as the eight final writers will attend a week-long residential course.

    Hi Piers,

Will we receive any acknowledgement of receipt of our scripts?
