Outlines
Bob the Builder / Smack the Pony / Green Wing writer James Henry is in the middle of a series of posts about outlines and treatments on his blog at the moment. Including the development of a TV series about British Superheroes.
So if you want to see how ideas for TV series get developed by pro writers, go check out his blog. EDIT: Please be aware that James' posts on this subject contain strong language.

Many, many thanks,
I've just finished writing a two page treatment, I find it the most difficult and frustrating task of writing.
Cheers,
Ed.

Pretty bad that this piece recommended by Piers Beckley at Writersroom by James Herbert for aspiring writers to look at contains the c-word. This isn't an over-18 site, in fact plenty of kids keen on writing read this site and follow the recommended links, like mine have today. There might be some policy rubbish that says ' cannot guarantee content of link' somewhere, but checking it through wouldn't take much effort.

Hello loudharrythehack, James Herbert here. Sorry your kids were exposed to the c-word, and to be fair to Piers, I wrote that piece two days after he put the link up, so he had no way of knowing the depths to which my language would sink.

loudharrythehack: While the BBC is responsible for the language used on its own sites, I'm afraid that we can't take editorial responsibility for sites not under our direct control.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention, though. I've updated the blog post to reflect that James' series of articles contains strong language.
