Hi Paul,
Just wanted to ask...if one was a finalist for last year's BBC Sharps competition (in the final 25) but not one of the winners, would they be eligible to enter this competition?

I am Quietkermit, considering writing children's drama, a thriller with an ancient historical slant - connected with archaeology, bronze or iron age but need to do some research first.

coathangerhead - yes, of course they can apply, the call is very open and wide, what we want to see is people who believe they have something to bring to Children's Drama

Due to work commitments I would be unable to attend the residential week. Would it still be worth entering the competition. Am thinking of entering a sports team based light comedy drama.

handsomeMK_Dave - yes, still worth submitting, still an opportunity to get noticed - but do state clearly if you can't make the residential

Am I right in thinking that we only have to submit the actual screenplay, or should an outline or treatment be sent too??
sorry for being a bit of a thicko.

The masterclass happens during my one holiday this year! Can I apply even if I won't be available on the masterclass date? (All assuming I even make it to the short-list of course - which is probably highly unlikely!!)

wanlungslong - we need to see the actual screenplay
joannesmedley - you can still apply, though the masterclass day is part of our selection process for being considered for the residential. however, if you at least want us and CBBC to see your work, then you can still submit

I work for BBC Worldwide -- not the corporation proper -- am I able to enter the competition?

othertongue - sorry, but as it's a wholly owned subsidiary of the BBC, we can't accept submissions for this from BBC Worldwide employees

Hello
In the highly likely event that I am cutting it fine getting my entry in before the closing date is it possible to drop it in directly to the writersroom? If so could I get the address? Thank you person

amk_minus - yes you can drop it into the reception of our building - Grafton House, 379-381 Euston Road, London NW1 3AU

Thanks very much Paul(o). Is the application form we have to include with the script in place of a covering letter? Thanks

Hi there,
Sorry to be a crashing bore but there was some haaa-hooo over Sharps last year and post and whatnot, so I was wondering if our scripts would get email acknowledgements of receipt this year? (I've sent mine in already)
Thanks!
X

Hi,
I submitted a one page drama proposal to CBBC last year through e-commissioning. It was not picked up, but since then I have gone on to write a full script. Would it be eligible for this scheme?
Thanks
Darren
