Robin Lustig | 17:54 UK time, Wednesday, 13 May 2009

The voting is over; the counting has begun. And while you're waiting for the result, do take a look at this stunning slide show put together by my colleagues Ritula Shah, Helen Towner and Lee Chaundy on their recent reporting trip.

Good pics. Someone might have told the woman in blue, second slide, a photo was being taken which would be appearing on a website viewed by millions all over the world!

700 million voters. Wow! What's our UK total? 40 million? They must have a whole manufacturing sector just making ballot boxes.

I wonder if the photographer got a signed model release form!

If you or I took the photo we might get sued but if a "reporter" takes it it is just fine - the reality is that the huge wealth and power of the organisation that publishes the picture far exceeds that of the people photographed so normal property rights to ones own image just evaporate.

(Of course in the UK we have the present position that although they are themselves breaking the law the police try to stop people taking photographs in public places even though it is perfectly legal to do so - this of of course an outrage! But is just about power relationships.)
