World Have Your Say in New York
I took a stroll past the location for the Islamic center and bumped into people with opposing views.
I'll let them tell you what they think about Park51.

I mean they are constantly asking us to be more sensitive to thier feelings by not drawing pictures of Mohamed and accepting thier superstitious quirks.
But on the other hand the stuttering priest made a good point if they did infact get a good deal on the property, you can't hardly expect someone to pass up a bargan.
I will be honest though, I think all religions are silly. God is good but most religion seems to more about power, money and controle of the masses.

- If someone says to you "I hate you and your kind and don't want you or your kind here" then if you appease them and leave, you are rewarding their hatred.
- If someone says to you, "this is beloved and sacred to me, please do not build on it (or burn it)", then you could understand and respect their emotions. Note that the area where the community center is being built is not "sacred", and has strip clubs and betting shops. The building itself is already being used for muslim prayers.
The leaders of the protests against the project are also leading projects against mosques around the country. They are a vocal far-right anti-Islamic gang called SIOA with the motto of "Racism is the lowest form of human stupidity, but Islamophobia is the height of common sense". They are calling it a "Ground Zero Mosque" even though it is not at Ground Zero nor a Mosque. They are abusing the emotions surrounding 911 to mislead people into believing the community center is being built on "sacred" land.
Once people realise it is not holy or sacred land, then it becomes clearer that the driving force behind the opposition is the same force behind the planned Quran burning: Hatred.
