The Lidl story really is a disgrace.
They are trying to buy planning permission. If it was for sale, it should be much more expensive!
Seriously though, Mold is having a hard time as it is fighting to keep what shops it has left.
There already is a fund set up to revitalize the town, but it needs people to keep visiting the town to make them work.
With all the competition from the likes of Cheshire Oaks, Broughton Retail Park and Chester City Centre all within 30 minute drive, it is only natural that people think they are going to get a better deal elsewhere. The truth is, when you get there, you would feel foolish if you didn't buy anything, even if it was cheaper in Mold!
Lidl will not be a big employer to the town or even show any loyalty to it if sales are not as high as expected. This money offer should be used as a demonstration of the contempt the company has for the hard work that goes into maintaining the character of an 800 year old market town!
