Update 12 Sept: Confirmed - Denbigh Hospital out of running to be a prison [Daily Post]
Watch as ex-Denbigh Hospital worker and film-maker Peter Glynn takes an authorised tour of the derelict - and dangerous - hospital site and shares his memories about the place which is now being considered as a possible location for a prison in North Wales.

Peter's film shows the poor condition of the once impressive North Wales Hospital which has been left to crumble over the years as wrangling continued regarding its future.

However, today the Daily Post and Vale Advertiser report the site had been visited by officials from the Ministry of Justice who were given a tour by owner and businessman Ayub Bhailok.

The officials [read their official report] have already earmarked the Firestone factory in Wrexham and the old Dynamex factory, Caernarfon, as possible sites for a 800 capacity prison. Now, it seems, the hospital could be another contender.

Do you think Denbigh Hospital should be used in this way, would do you prefer to see anything rather than nothing done to the site or do you have other ideas for the complex? But remember, for a long time there had been hopes to redevelop the complex for housing - but that never got by the planners.

You can add your comments to our special guide dedicated to the hospital and its history.

By the way, interested parties have until October 31 to officially register their opinions about the sites being earmarked.
