The weather has been very topsy turvy this year. After the warmest March in Wales for over 50 years, the heavens opened and April was one of the wettest on record.

I think it's fair to say that summer hasn't got off to a great start this year with plenty of rain, strong winds and some flooding too. The first half of June has been cooler and wetter than average.

At the Royal Welsh Show attendance records were broken and on Thursday in Cardiff the temperature soared to 28 Celsius making it the hottest day of the year so far in the capital.

Despite a few days of hot weather during the 4th week of July, last month was still cooler and wetter than normal. In Wales, 127.6mm (five inches) of rain fell which is 138% of the long term average, making it wetter than July 2011 which had 95mm.

It's a glorious day at the Royal Welsh Show with hardly a cloud in the sky and unbroken sunshine.
Temperatures this afternoon soared to 26 Celsius, 79 Fahrenheit in the shade, making it the hottest day at the show since July 2008 - and the hottest day of the summer so far!

I'm at the Royal Welsh Show for the next couple of days and after all the wet weather and floods, summer has finally arrived. The sun is shining today and there is more sunshine to come. Tomorrow is likely to be the sunniest and warmest day of the week in Llanelwedd with temperatures in the shade rising...

What a day it's been today. More like autumn than summer. It's the worst storm to hit Wales in June since 2004!

This is my first blog for a while. I've been away on holiday in Corsica. Actually, it was hotter in Wales while I was there. Porthmadog in Gwynedd was the hottest place in the UK on Sunday 27 May with a top temperature of 28 Celsius, 82 Fahrenheit.>

Another weekend is upon us and the weather is best described as mixed. However, some parts of the country will fair better than others and there will be differences in the weather from one day to the next.
Most of the rain is likely tonight. Tomorrow will start cloudy and damp, especially in mid Wales...

The weather is in better shape today thanks to high pressure. A few cumulus clouds and sunshine with many coasts clear and sunny.
It's still not that warm for the time of year with temperatures 10 to 14 Celsius...
