Mostyn preview on Radio Wales Arts Show
Tonight's Arts Show will speak to the curator at Mostyn, Martin Barlow, ahead of the launch of the gallery and new programme of exhibitions. The programme also talks to several of the artists who are exhibiting, and gathers the opinions of some residents and visitors to Llandudno on the subject of the gallery revamp.
Among the new exhbitions at Mostyn is We Have The Mirrors, We Have The Plans - considered the centrepiece of the gallery's new programme.
Occupying four gallery spaces it includes painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, text, video and sound pieces, and is part of an initiative to make an ongoing assessment of the best developments in contemporary art in Wales.
Nicola Heywood Thomas examines the displays inside the revamped Mostyn gallery.
Meanwhile, Along The Line is a display by photographer Darryl Lonsbrough of his large-scale colour photographs that depict familiar yet largely ignored, unnoticed and unloved north Walian places.
And over the space of a three month residency at Mostyn, the The Junkyard Museum of Awkward Things by Dil Humphrey-Umezulike - alias Dilomprizulike, or the self-styled 'Junkman From Afrika' will be recreated. It will be first time the piece is seen outside of Nigeria, and will remain on display after the residency until October.
