This week's show is now available via the BBC iPlayer. Please listen again any time between now and the start of the next programme.

Cardiff's Totem Terrors - Max Hicks and Rosie Smith - are in session on this week's show. I've been playing Max's singular music on the radio for more years than I can remember: from (I think) Cubare, through The Vinyl Stick-Ons, to he (and Rosie's) current project, Totem Terrors.

They manage the excellent feat of grafting Sleater-Kinney and The Fall to shoots and branches that are decidedly their own. It's pop music - much more Slits than Little Mix - but pop music all the same. And it'd give the producers of The Voice earache - which is a good thing.

Georgia Ruth encapsulates so much of what I love about music: grace, courage, breath-stealing beauty (the music... I'm not John Inverdale), sweet melancholy, a voice that could squeeze empathy out of the hardest hearts.

We've been lucky enough to chronicle Georgia's ascent on this show, since I first played her in 2007. It's not been a steady climb - there have been little avalanches, detours and impenetrable mists on occasions - but each challenge has helped Georgia focus her vision, as evinced on her wonderful debut album Week Of Pines.

Georgia is our very special guest in the second half of the show, talking about Week Of Pines and what she may do next.

There are debut plays for Mathew George, Emperor International, Robes of State, Endaf Gremlin and Boreas y Gogledd.

And I *may* have a rant about band biogs. I know they're not easy to write - but less is more. One thousand words when you've hardly broken out of your bedroom is unnecessary. Mild apologies for the high octane sanctimoniousness.
