Welsh writers shortlisted for comic fiction literary prize

Now in its 11th year, the prize celebrates the novel of the last 12 months that has best captured the comic spirit of PG Wodehouse.

Murray, senior lecturer in Creative and Professional Writing at the University of Glamorgan, has been shortlisted for her novel Diamond Star Halo; a witty story of fate, magic and rock 'n' roll that shows what happens when a family and a farm become the breeding ground for fame.

Pryce's latest installment of the Aberystwyth series featuring Louie Knight, From Aberystwyth With Love, follows the town's sole private detective as he tries to unravel a murder mystery. Both authors were also shortlisted for the prize in 2005.

The three other novels vying for the literary gong are Solar by Ian McEwan, One Day by David Nicholls and Skippy Dies by Paul Murray. The winner will be annnounced at Hay Festival in May.
