The Chairman of the BBC Trust told Victoria this morning that the BBC shouldn't allow itself to be "put over a barrel" when deciding how much to pay performers and senior executives.

Sir Michael Lyons also defended his own expenses (£70,00 over six months) and use of a chauffeur-driven car, which he said enabled him to work more efficiently.

I'm sorry but I couldn't listen to this again, even if I wanted too.It was more than enough this morning.

Lyons whole appalling, arrogant and patronising smug attitude, in Victoria's interview ( in which he constantly talked over her questions ) tells me all I need to know about what kind of out of touch management and gravy train riders are running the Trust and the BBC.

How on earth did he get this job ? He has no communication skills whatso ever.

He seemed to think that he was better than every else and was more than entitled to his perks ( paid out of public money ) because what is position is.

I will be writing a letter of complaint to the Culture Secretary. Not that it will do any good but at least it will make me feel better !!

What a weasely little man. Where do we get these people from? Do they just grow in England or do they exist in other countries?
Unbelievably smarmy and arrogant. Victoria, how did you stop yourself from hitting him?
Well now we DO know what sort of person is in charge of the BBC (and I was a real strong BBC supporter until this morning)
AND I bet he doesn't even realise how arrogant he sounded. Thank's for trying Victoria. Don't let the likes of him put you off. You are brilliant.

He came across as though he was giving a "Nanny knows best" lecture to little nobodies.
I found him so smug and annoying, I had to turn it off.
So now we know the sort of people running the BBC.

He was a labour councillor and council chief executive - what does anyone expect? They all think they know whats best for us but in reality couldn't organise a booze up in a brewery.

What a pompous little man! The more rattled he became the more his veneer slipped and the more his Lahndahn (East) vowels became apparent!

Just goes to prove - you can take the boy out of the East End of London but you can't take the East End of London outta the boy!

This interview was a testimony to Victoria's professionalism.

The questions she asked were direct but polite and what many of us wish the presenter would ask.

It become increasing amusing, listening to the "little strop" he was getting into, the more Victoria pursued the questions that he did not want to answer. Some of the replies I thought were quite intimidating and not worthy from a person in his position.

As to the fact that the senior people in the beeb need a chauffeur driven car to extend their working hours, I wonder how this sits with the time directive

I have never before sent a blogg to anybody of importance. But I feel i have a need to send this one to you personaly. I am a avid listener of Radio 5 and have been for many years. The presenters are fantastic. But for the past two years I felt you have lost your edge. Your interviewing had become safe, very PC and in a lot of cases anoyingley bias. There was an instance when you was debating Isreal bombing Gazza, you came aross as bias towards the isrealis. Towards the end of that programme a gentle man brought you to book, he mentioned that anybody giving counter argument to the Israelis, you either closed down or cut off.
The interview with Mr Lyons was the Victioria of old, polite, searching, not excepting wooley words or weasel answers. In fact This interview was fantastic and a testimony to your professionalism. When you are on the mark you are without doubt one of the best.
