What can you find out about your MP?
The details of expenses claims made by every MP from 2004 to 2008 have been put online. Most of the information has already been leaked by the Daily Telegraph. In the official version, important details which would have shown up some of the worst abuses have been blanked out.
Find out what YOUR MP has claimed on this link and perhaps compare it to the information the Telegraph has uncovered.

From what I understand one can get full information from the Telegraph - so what's the point at looking at the official online version with most bits censored?
Also - I have to admit to a delicious feeling of schadenfreude on leearning that the latest minister to resign/step down was the asinine Kitty Usher who only hours previously had been obfuscating on Mayo's programme.

Thats why we don't trust them.
They say one thing one minute and another the next.
Never consistent.

In an alleged democracy of course it's important that the public know about these extravagent MP's expenses but the idea that the Daily Telegraph spilled the beans a month before the elections out of the goodness of its heart and in the interests of public accountability is quite ludicrous!
These revelations could have been made months ago but like all secondary scandal stories, the mainstream media keep them in abeyance until less palatable news occurs like more £billions of taxpayers money used to bail out banks and building societies or more body bags returning from Afghanistan.
Moreover the openly Tory Telegraph knew that despite revealing corrupt Tory MP's who were going to retire anyway, the revelations would, as the election results proved, cause maximum havoc to a Labour Government despite it being pathetically right wing anyway!
What this whole expense saga should prove to most free thinking people is that Parliament is just a talking shop that acts as an intermediary between the interests of big business and radical dissent against the system. MP's expenses and allowances have always provided the financial inducement to ensure this always prevails.
