I have had a mixed response to the question of who came out on top in our BBC Look North Election Debate in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

Labour's Diana Johnson, Conservative Graham Stuart and the Lib Dems' Denis Healy locked horns at Immage Studios in Immingham in front of a studio audience made up of voters from across our region.

The debate included questions on unemployment, immigration, cleaning-up politics and electoral reform.

I would very much like to hear your comments on the programme.

Clearly, a major issue is immigration. Yet, it should be the least contentious. All THREE major parties are commited to staying in Europe and, are therefore, subject to the free passage of labour rules that form part of the treaty. NO PARTY CAN LIMIT immigration from one part of the community to another. This is by FAR the highest form of immigration that we have in this country.
Minor parties suggest we should leave Europe and then we DO have control. A recipe for disaster! With whom would we trade? The power blocks of the US, Russia, Europe and China and....us! We would be like the little corner shop against the giant hypermarkets! So, that is a non starter!
Then there is non EU immigration. All parties will limit this - in different ways. There is little difference between them.
Finally, illegal immigration. All major parties will make every endeavour to control this and - it will be a major perrenial problem. They will all fight it not only on a form of principle but because it costs the country so much, both in anti measures and lost tax revenue when illegal immigrants are here.
So, dismiss this argument and get on to the real issues about social justice and who has proven to be the best at financial management - not only over the last thirteen years but back through previous governments.
Think, if Thatcher had not sold off our share in BP, we would not be in any kind of turmoil finanmcially, today!

I do not like all the immigration but I have just read some figures that shows thousands of people from the UK work abroad.
Immigrants to this country appear top do the jobs that the British do not want to do and it is amazing where these immigrants can be found.
They are mostly in areas that vote Conservative from the little fish and chip shop in Hawes in the Yorkshire Dales, where the owner told me she could not get any locals to do the jobs, to souvenier shops in Lynmouth in North Devon.
Oh and if you go to Hawes by bus you will probably have a Polish driver.
