Found: the Unity Candidate
Instead of battling over the image rights to an American model called Kristin, who started the week on a billboard pledging to vote for the DUP and then changed her mind switching to the Conservatives and Unionists (see below), shouldn't the two main unionist parties be sounding her out about the possibility of standing as their unity candidate in South Belfast?

I did a quick scan around to try to turn up some of the posed photos from the infamous UUP 2005 election campaign. I couldn't find them but if anyone else does feel free to supply a link.
However I did turn up this old spoof from Slugger O'Toole.

I heard your comments to Good Morning Ulster earlier today. Not being around Belfast, I am curious as to who she is now. It's all a bit of light-hearted hypocrisy.

Does anybody, particularly unionist voters seriously believe that the DUP will not hop straight into bed with the Tories post election? As i keep saying the whole lot of them are lying self interested toads who couldn't be trusted to run a sweety shop!

Up until recently I wouldve agreed with you, thats why I'm voting eamonn McCann, he does actually get off his ass and support communities, unlike the rest of them who you only see at election time.

So, both photos appear to come from istockphoto.com, where the terms and conditions explicitly prohibit "Use that depicts personal endorsement by model". ( http://www.istockphoto.com/license_comparison.php )
C'mon, guys, follow the rules...

i have a theory! would i be right in suggesting the lower down a lamp post a candidates poster is, the more secure they feel in that area. im sure somebody should do a study finding a correlation between poster height from the ground and election success in that area. would be intresting findings!

Another thing. It doesn't matter who wins the election to the DUP. Who ever blinks their eye lashes and shows them a wad of money the DUP is there no questions asked. If anyone has form for criminal behaviour the DUP will be all over them like a rash.

How is you, or how are you? Anyway, I thought this a very good move on behalf of the UCUNF's (that actually makes them sound like they really are, that's ironic!!!) For people to slag the DUP however is wrong. It is simply a poster, it does not matter where the girl is from, do we ask questions about other products advertised, eat this and you will look like this, do this and this will happen.

Disgusted,
It may not matter to you or the average voter where she's from, but it does matter to some of us. I think that the only thing that the poster is representative about is that the DUP will take a premise, any premise, and bend it to whatever way it suits them. With well over 100,000 voters, and they couldn't find any one of them to stand in for such a photo. Now, I could speculate as to what is aesthetically wrong with the average DUP voter, but that would be wrong of me. Instead, I'll say that the DUP want to give the impression that their voter pool is one of a healthy, teenage-mid to twenties group of reasonable-looking and attractive people. In fact, it does not look unlike the average UUP voter.
The point is, we all have an impression that the average DUP voter is a middle-aged bitter sour-face. And I think there's good reason for that, it's a well earned preconception.
