After a night and a morning of optimism, the late afternoon feels more pessimistic. Sinn Fein's negotiators returned to the castle amidst rumours of a wobble amongst republicans over the proposed reforms on parading.
The DUP leader Peter Robinson came to the microphone with a sober message that he wouldn't sign off on any deal until he was satisfied it was right and that people here would be gutted if the process was brought down, but that he didn't believe collapse should be the outcome if there was no deal today.
The few are now predicting that the prime ministers will be en route any time soon and these negotiations could well go on into the night.
The Ulster Unionists haven't turned up at all today - their leader Sir Reg Empey was busy explaining his role in last months talks with the DUP at Orange Order headquarters to his huddled Tory partner Owen Patterson.
However senior Ulster Unionist sources say that even if there is a deal the party will not endorse it. Instead, they are expected to say that because they did not negotiate the agreement they will have to take it away and examine it before coming to a view.

Is there any truth in press speculation that Hillary Clinton has been invited to NI by Arlene Foster to open a number of new job centres?
Surely the 'warning' by Envoy Declan Kelly (Belfast Telegraph) is a fig leaf for a new protectionism by the American administration to secure US jobs which is at the top of President Obama's agenda. I can assure both Secretary of State Clinton and Envoy Kelly that through the ups and downs of living in NI, I never once had to rely on hand-outs from the US.

How can the Parades issue take up a week in discussions ? What about more pressing matters ? Given the debacle of the 11 plus fiasco and many other contentious issues, how can we entrust the devolution of Policing and Justice with Sinn Fein and the Duplicity party in the driving seat ?

Mark how much longer can this charade go on for? If these talks were a dog, they would be taken out the back and put out of it's misery!
They should be given 24 hours to do a deal or Stormont will be suspended and all salaries and expenses stopped immediately.

ON THE SEVENTH DAY THEY COMPLETED THEIR EXPENSES CLAIMS
The break in the negotiations shows that our politicians have got their priorities right.
As well as a deserved day's rest they will also be able to catch up on other important matters such as completing January's fiddled expenses claims.

BBC AGENT PROVOCATEUR?
An article appearing in Phoenix Magazine (published in Dublin) alleges that MI5 was responsible for exposing the Robinson scandal, and suggest BBC was its 'agent provocateur'.
The head of BBC NI surely must respond to this suggestion of involvement with the security service.

Help ive lost me wee dog. brief description-small, well kinda short has a lovely we coat (not that Sinn Fein one). Yaps loudly now and again and has a bad habit of licking things that we dare not mention on the day that it is , for fear of causing offence. But lalely i have not heard him and have not seen him for a week now and i'm really worried. I'v even contacted the press but they've been no help. They have'nt responded to my pleas its almost as if they've put a gagging order on me search for me wee mutt. So if anyone can help me find him i'd love ya for ever! ps he answers to the name of jef and if you throw an oul high heel for him he'll fetch it back and give ye a wee lick. RSVP
