Cameron and Courtship

Mark Devenport | 12:29 UK time, Wednesday, 29 July 2009

The UUP treasurer Mark Cosgrove is in cheerful form, not just because of the turnaround in his party's finances, but more in anticipation of getting married this weekend.

We have heard a lot about the "courtship" between the UUP and the Tories, so maybe it's fitting that one of the guests at Mark's wedding will be Davey Cameron.

Apparently Davey called him recently when he was chatting to a Conservative and the Tory's eyes nearly popped out as the name flashed up on Mark's mobile.

Before the PSNI start wondering why they haven't been informed in advance about the occasion, we better point out that this Davey Cameron is Mark's office manager, not the potential future Prime Minister

I see the UUP accounts have been published.

    They raise some questions

    1. Why is a valuation for a building at 2007 still used in 2008 and also at June 2009 when the accounts were signed off, when everyone knows the property market has collapsed.

    2. Who is the very friendly partner in the new property development LLP company who pays £330,000 for 20% of a building, somewhat over the odds in todays market, and then allows the bank to have a charge over the building to secure the UUP loans?

    3. With a fiscal breakeven and the level of loan repayments required where will they find the funds to fight an election?

Just off subject a bit but very important. The latest statement from
TUV Leader Jim Allister. Jim asks why the PSNI has concealed a recent substantial IRA arms find in Magherafelt last friday?

As a reporter did you see or hear anything as to why the PSNI made no statement as to what was found which was apparently several rifles, a handgun and explosives?

    Is this another cover up?
