Between the Blairites and the BNP
Our new MEP Diane Dodds has now got her feet under her desk in the European parliament. Today she took an early crack at the government, criticising Baroness Kinnock for naming Tony Blair as the likely UK candidate for EU President and thereby treating the Irish referendum in October as a "fait accompli". The DUP news release was headlined "No need for any EU President, let alone an EU President Blair", although disappointingly she didn't list all the reasons why Tony shouldn't get the job.
Earlier this week, the Guardian reported Mrs Dodds' apparent annoyance at being seated next to the BNP's Andrew Brons. She is reported to have abandoned her seat in protest. Presumably no handshake took place.
With the BNP on one side and the Blairite Eurocrats on the other where is a new DUP MEP to turn to? Let's hope she doesn't rush into the Ladies and bump into Bairbre De Brun.

traditional unionist is behind the times...the IRA has disarmed, stopped recruiting, closed intelligence and engineering depts. They have said the war is over. It is no more.
We are left Sinn Fein a legitimate political party that was not given anything by anyone except votes by their electors. As a democrat i accept their mandate and respect it. Do you?

No I dont accept that mandate of a party which got into government through threats and murder.
And you conviently missed my point. Why does Diane not sit beside the BNP but yet can sit beside SF/IRA?
Is she saying she cannot site beside racists with a "mandate" but can sit beside republican murderers with a "mandate"?

Well first you should ask her not me.
I don't have a mandate from Diane the DUP or the people.
I speak for me and me only.
I'll guess she will say that the DUP stance has been since 1994 that they would recognise Sinn Feins mandate when the ira gave up violence and IRA structures were dismantled. So when they did that, the DUP respected the electoral mandate in order to move things forward in northern ireland.
Where sinn fein used to legitimise ira murders of british army soldiers they now condemn murder of british army soldiers.
The BNP on the other hand have not changed, or shown any inclination to.

Stormont Spy,
regards ira recruitment andintelligence:
The british army, PSNI, MI5, IMC and also the British and Irish Govts have said that the ira has stopped these things.
e.g.
"The 12th report by the Independent Monitoring Commission reveals that the Provisionals have wound down some of their departments, including those responsible for bomb-making.
And while it acknowledges the continued involvement of individual IRA members in crime, the Commission highlighted the resolute line of the IRA leadership in discouraging criminal activity.
It also shows that intelligence-gathering on security force members has stopped, training and the procurement of weapons has ended, and the organisation has resisted approaches from the community for it to punish anti-social elements."

Northern Ireland Secretary Peter Hain today that claimed people would see when the report was finally published at lunchtime today that the Provisional IRA had undergone an historic, seismic, irreversible change and was no longer a terrorist threat.
"What I do think now is an imperative for all the (Northern Ireland) parties is for them to recognise that the paramilitary situation, in particular the situation of the IRA, has changed absolutely fundamentally and radically," he said.

Madge,
What else is the Government going to say? I am sure if something was needed they could get their hands on it.
As you are a representative for DUP and the DUP/Sinn Fein buddies in Government coalition you may like to attempt to answer the following -
1. The murder of Paul Quinn. This is strongly linked to the IRA. Why did the DUP not walk away from Government?
2. The murder of Denis Donaldson. At the time the DUP leader and your friend Ian Paisley blamed republicans for the killing, saying that "eyes will be turned towards IRA/Sinn Fein on this issue". Why did the DUP enter Government with Sinn Fein?
3. The killing of Robert McCartney. Why are the DUP sharing Government with people who could provide information in order to put those responsible behind bars?
4. The Northern Bank robbery. Who is responsible for this? Do the DUP care? Not really providing they get their wages at the end of the month.
It seems Madge that it is all well and good attacking me or others but facts speak for themselves. Has the DUP forgotten all the above. This is just 4 reasons why DUP lost votes at the last European Election.

This blog yet again deletes a perfect fine post.
I wish they would say exactly what is wrong with the posts rather than just saying "oh it broke a house rule".
This way it prevents against possible accusations of BBC agenda's etc...
