Sir Fred and the MLA
It's been brought to my attention that both the Evening Standard and the Daily Mail have identified Sir Fred Goodwin as a client for New Century, David Burnside's PR firm. Mr Burnside confirmed last month that he is to leave the Assembly to focus on his business interests. I rang him to check if "Fred the Shred" is one of his clients, but Mr Burnside told me his company policy was never to comment on the identity of clients.

REPUBLICAN SINN FEIN NEWS CONFERENCE JUST LIKE OLD TIMES
I am surprised that you haven't blogged on this news conference.
Maybe it was the Castro beard but Richard Walsh's performance evoked memories of a young Gerry Adams - i.e. in his pre-statesman days.
Or maybe it was Walsh's earnestness in espousing terrorism which mirrors Adams’s support for armed struggle over many years.
Looking at the success of Adams and McGuinness it is understandable why Walsh is following in their footsteps.

NO DOWNSIDE IN SEEING THE BACKSIDE OF BURNSIDE
Contrast the indiscipline in the UUP, exemplified by Burnside, with the control wielded over individual MLAs by the leaderships of the other Parties.
Until Sir Reg gets a grip on his Party, the UUP are heading for political Armageddon.
No other Party would tolerate the blatant self-interest exhibited by Burnside.
Time to take control, Sir Reg. Otherwise, kaput for the UUP.
