Pressure drop

Mark Devenport | 17:22 UK time, Friday, 12 September 2008

If any of our legislators are feeling under pressure over rising bills, Executive log jams and having to shake hands with Gordon Brown, they can check their health in the Assembly canteen on Monday. Chest Heart and Stroke Association Nurses will be on hand to check their blood pressures. Will the tests reveal which party is the most laid back?

Entirely typical of our MLA's take all summer off and the first day back find an excuse to spend valuable time in their subsidised canteen having their blood pressure taken.

It would have been so much better if they had been invited to a competence/capability course where those who failed received their P45's. Watch the blood pressure rise then.

In meantime if you are a member of the electorate worrying about the effects of the credit crunch, the likelihood your employer is in financial difficulties and redundancy is looming, the prospect of paying your winter fuel bills then you have something to worry about.

To really put your blood pressure through the roof think about your MLA just back from their long summer break and having nothing more to worry about than his/her next expenses claim and how much bonus they can pay the family member(s) they employ.

...and of course the only thing you can expect from the Chest Heart and Stroke Association is a smile and a sticker the next time you put some cash in their collecting box.....all because our MLA's can't budget for a fully funded health service.

X-RAYS WOULD BE MORE APPROPRIATE FOR MLAs

I suggest that MLAs be X-rayed to establish once and for all whether or not there's any work in them.

I have heard nothing from any of the MLA's
about the huge rise in our bills.
Is it because they have no interest.
What ( if anything ) are they doing.
The cost of living has gone through the roof.
They are laid back alright, no need to check that.
Would they like to say a few words on the economy at the moment?
Or anything at all to let us know they are their.

Does shaking hands with Gordon Brown give you failure disease?
