The DUP Euro Short List
Whilst speculation continues about whether Arlene Foster might herself defend the Fermanagh council seat left vacant after Joe Dodds' death, the wider question of which DUP politician will fight Jim Allister for the European parliamentary seat remains unanswered. At one point Nigel Dodds' name was on many lips, but he shrugged off the suggestion last time I mentioned it to him. A DUP source told my colleague Martina Purdy this week that the party has drawn up a short list but would not divulge the names on it. The source predicted a decision on the candidate in September.

I think it says alot about the DUP that they are going out to aim their "guns" at Jim Allister rather than SF/IRA.
What was it they were saying about maximising the unionist vote?...........

If Arlene is the DUP candidate in Fermanagh I guess her stay in the council chamber will only be as long as it takes to get agreement on co-opting new councillors to replace those with several seats in different houses. This approach will allow a less well known potential candidate to eventually get in on the strength of Arlenes high profile. Sammy Wilson talked about co-option on today's Inside Politics in the context of reform of local government.

Traditional Unionist - who are you? Are you Jim "Bowen" Allister or a close friend of him?
Jim Allister has criticised Peter Robinson for wanting to meet with the UVF.
Jim Allister has criticised the Orange Order for talking to Sinn Fein.
Jim Allister doesn’t support democracy through the Assembly.
Jim Allister is opposed to the nationalist / catholic individuals.
Jim Allister is determined to cause upset and destruction for 90% of the community. My guess at the next major elections he will get no more than 2 seats based on votes received at the 6th count.

I can tell you here and now that I of course am not Jim Allister. I am sure he has more important things to be doing that posting on here. Also he would put his name to his comments I am sure, just like he does to his letters in the newsletter etc
I am simply someone who shares alot of his views. And I am far from the only one.
We will see what happens at the next election. I think you will be rather surprised as you are way of in my opinion with your prediction regarding votes that TUV will get
Bring on the next election, as this current adminstration clearly isnt up to the task. They are totally useless infact if I am being totally truthful

Glad to hear you’re not Jim "Bowen" Allister. From all accounts from what I am guided to believe Jim is a nice man although he is very bitter!! That would probably explain why he eats so many lemons.
Last September Jim Allister was in the media as allegedly going to an Orange Hall in Tyrone to set up a Political Party. He of course denied this. We now know this was the birth of TUV. Why deny it and then get caught with egg on face? I made these comments here on this blog and a few days later an office worker of Jim Allisters came on here trying to defend his boss. This guy said “Mr Allister was asked about a meeting which was (supposedly) to be held in another part of the Province. He, correctly, said that he didn't know of such a meeting." If he didn’t know of such a meeting then how and why was he at it?
In my opinion Jim Allister wants N. Ireland to go back 40 years ago when the unionist community ruled and people were being killed. This was music to Allisters ears. We now live in a peaceful society were 98% of the population want peace. The other 2% like paramilitary and dissident political groups like TUV represent nobody but bitter lemon eaters.
I agree with you that the current administration isn’t up to the task but it beats innocent people being killed. What people need to learn right across society is to share and respect one another’s culture?
