Stormont tastes success

Martina Purdy Martina Purdy | 17:48 UK time, Thursday, 31 July 2008

Despite the sour atmosphere at Stormont, where a stand-off over a range of issues has led ot a backlog in decisions, there's plenty of award winning chocolate to brighten the mood. CoCouture chocolates have just been awarded a 3-star gold at the Great Taste Awards for its Bushmills Whisky truffle. And wouldn't you know they're exclusively sold at the Stormont gift shop.

I am sure that after 400 years of distilling whiskey it must be somewhat disturbing for Diageo to see a company win an award for Bushmills Whisky Truffles.

Can we anticipate an exchange of legal letters as well as red faces all round.

Martina, so with the addition of this new range of chocolate, will we see an end to the famous Stormont Fudge??

Stormont has never tasted success as all MLA's are lazy and misguided!! Now if only Jim Allister was an MLA and a sweet he would be a lemon sorbet. Bitter!! On the other hand if he was a biscuit he would be a fig roll. Enough to give anybody double Diahorrea!!!

CLARIFICATION NEEDED FROM IRIS ON THE GREAT ISSUES OF THE DAY - HER DAY!

If RJ is right that Iris will declare alcohol to be worse than paedophilia then she must believe that it is not as bad as homosexuality and sodomy. What else could one deduce from her Hansard-reported words to the Northern Ireland Grand Committee on 17 June, 2008: "There can be no viler act, apart from homosexuality and sodomy, than sexually abusing innocent children." *

An interesting foonote is that Dr William McCrea was chairing the Committee meeting which might explain why Iris lost the run of herself. Imagine being stuck in a lift with Iris and Willy; now that's the worst thing I can think of and that would drive you to the drink!

    Susie,

Interesting point about Dr McCrea chairing the Committee...I think that speaks volumes! Having just taken a glance through the Hansard report I just cannot fathom how she got away with this…obviously McCrea and the rest of the DUPers would let it go. But surely the MPs from the other parties should have questioned her remarks or at least brought her comments into the limelight much sooner?

It’s good to see that the petition to have Iris reprimanded is currently the 7th largest open petition on the Downing Street website out of a total of over 5,000 other open petitions. So far over 14,000 British citizens have singed up and hopefully by the 9th of August we will see many more!
