The gloves are off.
I was in Aberystwyth yesterday - Lib Dem territory in parliamentary terms - and missed this warm welcome for the launch of Kirsty Williams' leadership manifesto from the Chair of her opponent, Jenny Randerson's leadership campaign.
"We are delighted that Kirsty has come on board with so many of the ideas that Jenny launched last week such as simplifying local government funding, sabotaging the erosion of civil liberties and building a green economy.
"I'm also pleased that her manifesto reaffirms her support for so much existing party policy.
"Jenny has always wanted this campaign to be a battle of ideas and I know she is really excited about going head to head at the first hustings later this week."
You can't really confirm it from this photograph of Jenny Willott MP but I think we now know the gloves are off.

This reminds me of the same level of futily as "Two bald men fighting over a comb".I suppose it will keep the hordes of BBC Wales Politicos happy with interviews/discussions/pontificating for the next couple of months.

What I like about Lib Dem leadership campaigns is that they always try to appear argumentative, in order to get publicity. This usually backfires in the 'full glare of publicity'-or not if you live in the real world.

Perhaps Ms. Willott ought to pause to consider whether launching such a thinly-veiled attack on a colleague is either wise or dignified.

On Jenny Willott's page (link above) I notice that the Union Flag icon is placed to the left of the Welsh Flag, which is noticeably smaller. Perhaps she couldn't get an icon the same size, or larger? I have an (obsessive) distaste for the Union Flag, as it competely disregards my country. The juxtapositioning of the flags on her page in this way is irritiating. A minor point perhaps, but does not endear me to Ms Willott or the LibDems.
As for their policies, well, who cares? The farce which followed the coalition talks in 2005 has destroyed any credibility they have, as far as I'm concerned.
Gordon Brown's recent 'Britishness' drive involved ordering (central) government buildings in Wales to fly the union flag in precedence to the Welsh flag, even before the consultation period he instituted had ended. As a consequence, Jack Straw instructed prisons in Wales to take down the Welsh flag and replace it with the union flag. After a number of complaints to the prison service, this has been remedied.
Perhaps Ms Willott might see that our flag gets more respect on her webpage.
I must admit that I had never heard of her until reading this topic. As for gloves, best keep them on (and everything else too, candidates included, please).

Where is the Forward Badger Party (FDP) when we need them?
Ron Davis, former leader of the Forward Badger Party (FBP/RIP) today said that the expression, ?British Badgers? was extremely offensive to badgers, ?who cherished their specific local nationality and Welsh woodland walkways.? Ron went on??I have met many nationalist badgers at all times of the day (and night) and they certainly do not recognise the term ?British?. They are proud animals who are at the forefront in the movement for immediate Welsh independence. Along with the Druid Ducks, but not the Swans 'cos they are all Tories.?
NOTE: For younger readers?.Ron was the lead guitarist in the ?60s Welsh rock band, ?The Silver Badgers? who could have been ?As big as the Beatles!?? but for Ron?s accident.

Bluesnik.
Yes I remember him now.
Didn't he used to play a Fender Badgercaster, trying to emulate the style of Eric Clapham ?????

brynt41,
Being anti British at any opportunity, except in this case there's egg on the proverbial ....... your .....
'I notice that the Union Flag icon is placed to the left of the Welsh Flag, which is noticeably smaller.'
If you place your cursor over the Welsh flag you get the cation 'Change language to : Cymraeg'
Click on the Icon and the flags change place and the Welsh flag is marginally larger than the Union Jack.
An abject apology to Jenny Willott should be forthcoming, so that we can all see.

If I make a mistake, I admit it. I don't have javascript enabled on my pc, so the captions don't appear.
Consequently, I'm happy to retract my remarks in full, with apologies to Ms Willott.

the gloves are off, because they are preparing for "the unofficial election".....
PS: I am not saying there is an election....
