Over the last 10 years I've covered various world events for the BBC, including the attacks of 11 September and the war in Iraq. Now, my focus is the southern states and the Caribbean. I travel around extensively, reporting on a wide range of issues for radio and TV.
I was born in London - though raised in the north of England - and have a degree in journalism from the University of Sheffield. I was a member of the armed forces before joining the BBC.
Andy Gallacher is the BBC's Miami correspondent.
