It's National Poetry Day today. This year's theme is poetry that celebrates heroes of all sorts.
So, we want to hear about YOUR hero.
We know what a creative lot you are,
It's now time to raise the bar!
Send us five lines of verse about your hero or heroine - and we'll try to read out as many as possible at the end of the show.
Please don't write more than five lines per poem.
PLEASE remember to add your genuine FIRST NAME and LOCATION to your poem, so that we can give you a mention on the show.

My hero is my dad and my heroine's my mum,

Even now, they help brush the dirt off of my shoulder.

Our Heros.
Our heros are out there far away,
All they do is obey from offices,
All they want to do is return home to families,
However our thoughts are with them everyday,
Good luck to all our lads over there.

Watching your show I noticed an article asking for poetry, so here's one of mine.
Life
Call for luckGo by chanceNow even the sawdust in the lucky dip sticks to your hands
To satisfy the spirit,to satisfy the body seems less and less probableThe trading of skill goes on
The minds of the hungry grow weekYou break your back, but more likely your mind
To create one moment of time in your whole mortal existance
Where you can feel at one with life itself

Devoid of physical ability, reliant on the care of others,
He speaks through technology in a voice far from his own,
From a body that illness should have discarded years ago,
Of concepts so great, the Universal Secret in his sight,
The useless body carries this unchained mind...

For the life of me I cannot understand how to add my poem to the Blog. Your system just takes me round in circles. Is it working properly?
I am trying to add some lines about my hero; The artist John Constable. From Ronald Rodger Caseby, Chicheste
For gentry with elementary eyes
Suffolk lands were bland greens and grays
Criss-crossed by weedy waterways,
Reflecting wishy-washy skies,
With towpaths more like reedy bogs,
All, at times, lost in ghostly fogs.
For an East Bergholt bred miller's son,
Whose Stour-side weekday walks were fun
By this atmospheric lit trail
From Flatford Mill to Dedham's school
Where John learned art's golden rule,
It became his life's sacred duty
To draw and paint his landscape's beauty
And capture his county's grand scale.
Through Constable's skills scenes, by some deemed benighted,
Were caught on canvasses that still keep the world delighted.Ends.
