When I awoke this morning and heard the devastating news of the passing of Michael Jackson, I was in shock, saddened and in disbelief - "How could the King of Pop be dead?" I felt at that moment a little piece of me died too! Although, I did not personally know Michael Jackson, I felt I knew him as I had grown up with his music since a little girl. I fell in love with his music and dance. The world has lost a Great, creative, inspirational Music Artist / Legend. He will sorely be missed by the masses but his music will never be forgotten and will live forever. Thank you for the music you shared and gave to us all. My sympathies and condolences go out to his family. With Luv, Light and Liberty Donna Africa xx

I do have something I want to share. I have followed and admired the work of Michael Jackson from Day One- from the release of his first single with The Jackson Five. I am not an obsessive fan, I never have fallen into that category for any artiste(s).

I am in love with talent, always have been, since I was a tiny tot.

I have been to see so many of the greats live- Bing Crosby to Bob Hope to David Copperfield and Madonna. From Placido Domingo to Margot Fonteyn. From Frank Sinatra to Queen. From Liza Minnelli to Live Aid, Torville and Dean to Prince. And of course no list would be complete if I hadn't been to a Beatles Concert and I did In 1964. The list goes on and on and on, it runs into hundreds.

    Now to the point I wanted to make today, on this very sad day. With nearly 50 years of going to see the GREATS in all walks of entertainment- I want to say, having seen Michael Jackson live three times-(& I was looking forward to seeing him again at the O2 - but that is now not to be);
that he was in my informed opinion and without equal the greatest live performer - ever. We will never see his like again.

As they said at the end of the last concert of his that I saw:-
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN-MICHAEL JACKSON HAS LEFT THE ARENA.

HE MADE THE WHOLE WORLD DANCE AND HE ALWAYS WILL

As a tribute to Michael the "This is it" concerts at the O2 should still go ahead. the stage and set has been designed, the dancers trained - this could be the biggest tribute concert ever and a fitting end to mj's career. He would still be there, in the arena , in everyones hearts. either a stand in tribute perfomer for michael could be on stage or simply play his vocals over the bands music.

A chance for AEG Live and the O2 to show to the world the spectacle that would have been the king of pop's crowning glory.

Certainly a vigil on opening night at the o2 for ticket holders should be organised at the very least.

Only yesterday had i been joking about Michael Jackson to my friend, and now he's died. Music has died too, and so has dance. He was just inspirational to all. I think everyone should respect him. He was very misunderstood and went through some tough times. Without him we wouldn't have the amazing songs we do today, and his ledgenday moonwalk.
I cant believe that only recently he was on that stage saying he was doing a tour. This has come as a complete and utter shock to me.
I have alot of respect for him. God bless you Michael.

I feel that he became a target for some, because he was different or maybe didn't seem to conform. I never believed the bad stuff he was accused of- he just seemed rather child like and perhahps very ill advised. I will find it vey hard to listen to his music without feeling immensely sad.

I just want to say that I also have seen many pop artists in concert, some of them were fantastic, but none of them topped the 3 times I saw Michael Jackson. He was the ultimate entertainer - his singing and dancing were brilliant and the shows were staged for maximum impact. When he came on stage he didn't even have to move to have the crowd screaming in adoration and I'm sure that and the persistant press attention would affect anyone's grip on reality. He was definitely the King of Pop and will be remembered by my family for giving us a soundtrack to some of the happiest times of our lives. Rest in Peace, Michael.

Throughout his whole repertoire there must be one song that is liked by every individual in some part of the world. I was always brought up to be respectful, even to the dead, so if you haven't got anything decent to say it would be more respectful not to say anything at all. I have no doubt there are far more people throughout the world who have been devastated and shocked by the sad loss of this true musical genius. One more thing to say to those who have nothing better to do than insult his memory, sit back and enjoy the legendary music of Michael Jackson because that's all you're going to hear for a long time to come and that'll make a lot of us very happy indeed. There is no doubt that we have lost a wonderful performer and pop icon in Michael Jackson.

However, there is a very distasteful side to him as well. Sleeping with other people's children that you've lured because of your fame is just wrong and perverted, no matter what actually happened. He managed to escape prosecution by paying a child's family 20 million dollars to drop the case. If he was innocent and had nothing to hide, he would not have paid the money.

The other unsavoury thing about him was all the plastic surgery. Turning himself from a black man into a white man was an insult to his race.

However, let's try and remember him for some of those great songs.

When I heard Michael had suffered a heart attack and sadly, passed away, I just couldn't believe it. In fact, I still can't. The man was, and still is, my (and many others) biggest musical inspiration, his raw talent and showmanship have been, and always will be unsurpassed. His charity work just as important as his work on the stage. I saw him at Wembley on the Dangerous World tour and also in 2006 at Earls Court for the World Music Awards. Had tickets for the 'This is it' concert at the O2 on July 24th.

I don't understand the comment someone posted about MJ Fans being freaks, his fans are rightly passionate about him as a man and a musician. What's wrong with that? If you hate him so much why waste your time here posting about him? Too much hate in the world.

Secondly, to the people still saying he was guilty, I'd love for you to present the evidence that obvously was missing from the court case that proves this. Hmmm.... that's right, such evidence doesn't exist. Did you even read up properly on the case? It was an Extortion attempt (Sorry, do you even know what that means? - here's a hint.....look it up in Wikipedia :0 ).

I never met the man. Like most of the world, we never met the guy personally but could certainly recognise an indisputable God given talent that came to the fore at such a young age. Personally, I remember with fondness his tender lilting vocals on such ballads as Got To Be There, the Bill Withers' classic Ain't No Sunshine and of course Ben (Where can you find a good rat when you need one?) Many a last smooch at Shaggy Dog discos and The Jupiter Club. Thanks Michael for playing Cupid.

If you can remember the 70s . . they were great weren't they. And this guy's talent shone brighter than all 5 pairs of sequined sparkly flares, spinning illuminated balls (try that one Adrian!) AND with bottom-lit, multi-coloured perspex squares! The boy outshone himself -and the world. I imagine his dear friend Ms Ross will be missing him greatly. Respect. Artistes touching emotions, helping to nurture, convey and entwine love. Love, memories - shared. Steady on now, or I'll be bursting into my Barry White.

Seriously though, and this guy was serious at his craft. Through his song-writing, singing and production. When Off The Wall hit in 79 I was up there with the rest of 'em - jacket sleeves rolled up and back flips aka Northern Soul. Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough . .

I only saw The Craftsman at work just the once - Cardiff 88. Boy! This guy was some impassioned performer and he excelled as an entertainer. Could do a pretty mean two-foot-shuffle too. So, both live and in the studio, as a mere humble listener I loved what this man has co-created in my head, my heart and my soul.

Through The Way, The Truth and The Life, I hope to meet you later my friend. I can show you my artwork if you can show me how to flip back onto my feet at the tender age of 50. God bless.

Michael was never charged, or found guilty of any wrong doing, according to British law you are innocent until proved guilty, I do believe he was taken advantage of by some people, people he thought he could trust, the world is a little emptier now, because of his passing. Read comment 2 above, angieboss, I agree.

Concerning the death of Michael Jackson and the issues regarding the refund of tickets; Wouldn't it be an amazing tribute to the man and the music if the organisers continued with the planned concerts, just having his music blaring through speakers with footage of his dancing and enough room to let people embrace the music and be absorbed by its power. It would give fans a chance to pay their respects and mourn his passing through the music he created with people from all backgrounds united in a shared love for the music. I believe people would come from around the world to be part of the marathon tribute. The money raised from tickets (once covering costs) could be given to charities supported by Michael Jackson. This was set to be the biggest come back tour of all time, and it still could be. Death isn't absolute when music is immortal.

OK - the guy was an icon in the entertainment business, but how overrated I cannot put into words. All you sycophants - just take a moment and think what he actually did, musically. The odd OK tune - that's it - nothing noteworthy for years. The coverage given to Jackson, and the flying out to LA of Emily Maitliss etc, is just ridiculous. He was famous and an icon for all the shenanigans that were going on.

Yet, when a giant of music such as Mr Rick Wright passes away, it hardly gets a mention. Very sad indeed.

    Michael Jackson

Through the TV, I entertain the world.
    I make lots of money
So I can hide from you.
    Im scared
    My soul is always bared.
Drugs take me away, no worries, I play.
    Then I play to millions.
Lots of help, lots of rehearsing, lots of work,
    Lots of sweat.
    You will miss me,
    You bet.

    I was gifted with magic.
    I wasnt clever.
    I love you all.
    I take my applause.
    I will never ever
    Deny my responsibilities.
    What would the world be
Without the Beatles, Stones, Status Quo,
    Madonna, Simon and Garfunkle.
    Without the likes of them
I would have been a carbuncle
    On humankind.
I will forever moonwalk for peace.

    Drugs are necessary.
    Drugs are a killer.
My vids were the best of the time.
Made my act and thats a fact.
    Thriller.
    Children are our future,
    I love children.
Nothing to do with lost childhood.
    I love children
    And their view on life.
Clean. Happy to meet our expectations.
    Life can be dull
As we mull over our separate nations.
    And we fight.

    Lets pretend Im Jesus.
Everything Ive got goes into this.
The press say Im taking the piss.
    Im not Jesus.
    I wish I was.
It was an act. An act of faith.
    To bring about love
    Im so rich
    But I dont care.
I am here and you are there
    Waving your arms
And I feel good but at your expense.
    So I put messages across
    Which is no recompense.
    Im black
And I want to come back
But it isnt going to happen.
    Love you all.

    Michael, "The Prince of Pop"
    How you agonised,
    sacrificed and suffered so
for sharing and giving the world
    your love
    your creativity
    your ingenuity
    your music
    dance and incredible songs
that will inspire and live forever on.

    Michael, in my eyes
    an innocent lost boy child
    trapped within whilst
    outside a vulnerable
    crumbling visage of a
    trusting man
A puppet dancing for the media strings
Filled with so much pain and hurt
Struggling and longing just to be loved
understood and finally to be set free.

Michael, there could never be another
as superbly talented & as creative as you
No other could have broken down barriers
    connected
    touched
    and inspired
    as you
    This world was never meant
for one as beautiful as you

Michael, you will never be forgotten
    Your music and legacy
    you gave us
    will remain and carry on
    to illuminate
    Share
    Create
    Inspire
    and appreciate
    The Great Bright Super Star
that you were and will be forever more.

Michael, we will always love you!

For you, ALL of this quote applied:'Some people are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them.'
It brought you tremendous joy as an artist
And the worst pain of your life, as a target.
You lived in a bubble, created by your celebrity
You weren't allowed the freedom of anonymity.
You made the best of your situation.
You lived an honest, Godly life
You remained dignified when those with evil in their souls
Tried to destroy you - twice.
You knew the joys of fatherhood
    Of giving and sharing
    Of loving and caring.
May this knowledge, and the practice of it in this life grant you eternal bliss in the next.
Rest in peace, beloved Michael Jackson
An exceptional inspiration to us all.

I watched with interest the item on typewriters. But take issue with the fact that they are now extinct. I learnt to type in 1976 whilst on a 2 year secretarial course in Portsmouth. I learnt on a manual typewriter as electric ones were only just becoming available (golf ball typewriters). Fax machines were also a new technology at the time. I now work in an office in Newbury and have used a typewriter everyday since I started working there some 15 years ago.

We do have PC's which I also use but for typing Purchase Orders and envelopes we use the typewriter. We also have one in our warehouse which is used by the warehouse staff for creating the templates for metal tags using a type of carbon paper - something which can not be done on a computer.

I know that the company I work for is not the only one using typewriters today from having spoken to the engineer who comes in to service our machiens. It is a shame that not more people are taught to type on typewriters as the skills involved are alot more involved than learning on a keyboard as your item showed.

If I met my favourite pop star Michael Jackson, I would ask him so many questions most of all how did he come up with the words to Smooth Criminal, Thriller and Black or White. It would be so great but I can't now because he has died, but his music is still alive and I've got all his songs on my phone. He was only 50. He didn't even get to complete his tour.
