The One Show Summer Exhibition launches!

The One Show Team | 11:33 UK time, Friday, 26 June 2009

For more information about The One Show's Summer Exhibition click here.

Tonight we are launching The One Show's Summer Exhibition, a competition to celebrate your passion for art!

We want you to send in photos of artwork you have created around the theme of Your Passions. It can be painting, small sculpture, crochet, pottery - in fact any kind of artwork (except photography).

Please don't send in your actual masterpiece, just take a snap of it and send it into our gallery here.

The closing date for the competition is Wednesday 8th July 2009 at 5pm. There is no prize but the favourite five pieces will appear on The One Show in front of an audience of millions.

Inspiration

We believe that everybody has a creative side and we were inspired by One Show viewer Jane Stallwood from Stainton in County Durham. Jane emailed The One Show, to tell us:

"I was fortunate enough to have a painting accepted by the Royal Academy for the Summer Exhibition but I am unable to travel to London from my home near Barnard Castle to see it..."

So we sent her the next best thing! Gyles Brandreth on her doorstep unannounced!

Watch the film below to see Gyles surprise Jane with comments from a Royal Academician about her painting.

We've been promised a competition with five winners and an 'exhibition'. I really wouldn't mind if we had a date or even a rough idea, the month will do, but we've been told just to watch the show. This is ridiculous, hanging on waiting and waiting...
I'm so scared of missing it I've started recording the show every day. All that excitement, the suspense is killing me.
    Please give us a date.
