Adrian and Christine with Westlife

Adrian and Christine were joined for a special Halloween One Show by Westlife and comedian and Marty Jopson and pumpkinauthor Charlie Higson.

Our mad scientist Marty Jopson (pictured right) gave some younger viewers a zombie makeover.

Michael Mosley looked into spooky phenomenon of déjà vu. What causes the feeling that you're reliving a moment you've lived before?

Tonight was the final of our Children in Need challenge between Lucy Siegle and Michael Douglas.

It's the last day of Garden Watch! Mike and Miranda visited the gardens of Andover where they found creatures of the night.

Adrian and Christine with Charlie HigsonDr Robert Winston looked into the pros and cons of living longer and asked is 100 the new 70?

Dr Sarah Jarvis was in the studio to discuss the consequences of increased life expectancy on health services.

Dom Littlewood explored the dramatic increase in car cloning and gave his tips to avoid the cloners. Dom also mention cavity wall insulation - more info here.

Gyles Brandreth was on the trail of the devilish deeds of unlikely Victorian folk hero, Spring Heeled Jack.

And Christopher Biggins investigated why we find fear, fun - by going on a rollercoaster.

Finally, many thanks for all your cough remedies. We've passed them onto Adrian and Christine - let's hope one of them helps!

Have a great weekend and we'll see you on Monday.

Just in case you're wondering, i'm not a kill joy and like fun just as much as the next person - I can understand people having fun dressing up etc. but i think I don't think it's as harmless as some people say.

Hallowe'en: please help to conserve the Celtic roots of Hallowe'en - Americanisms such as "trick or treating" undermine the ancient traditions. In the Highlands as with other parts of the UK we go "guising" and each guiser has to perform a "party piece" before they are given a gift such as monkey nuts, a tangerine or a sweet. We also used to carve out a turnip or "neep" lantern as there were no pumpkins available in those days. This could take a whole day and a few spoons would get bent. The smell of burning turnip brings it all back (although I have to admit that I prefer pumpkins these days!).

Re 22: amused by your Halloween/major disaster comments - very true. They remind me also of what Jeremy Clarkson said in the summer about all the warnings etc etc for the warm days during the heatwave back in June - as he said, all these warnings & a major situation for what used to be simply called a nice summer's day.

Re 27 & 28: agree about the Firday audience - also dislike the moving about the studio - I think it detracts from the momentum of the show, which during the other four days manages to retain a tight, concise feel to it.

November is the "Month of the Dead" and traditionally the month of remembrance. Why does everyone appearing on the media have to sport poppies in October over recent years? Who decided that was "respectful"? Hallowe'en..eve of all hallows (i.e. saints) and All Saints'Day: November 1st followed by All Souls Day, November 2nd according to the Christian calendar. Those brought up in that faith e.g possibly Westlife band members, being Irish, show no disrespect by not wearing poppies in October just because everyone else on the media is doing so because it's expected and they're told to do so.

Watch regularly - love it BUT v concerned re. Fri 30 Oct!! Show was un-necessarily unpleasant and worrying! Seeing A & C out on 'trick or treat' - visiting strangers houses, going inside and even to bedroom, what message is this to vulnerable children. No warnings or advice to 'take an adult'. I shall be at a childrens party, dressed up in the theme Heroes and Princesses, having fun, playing games etc. This is a 'Shoebox Celebration' encouraging children to bring and give a small gift for a shoebox to go to children who have nothing - a rather better and safer message than 'go out and see what you can get by threats and frightening people'!
Perhaps more should have been made of the 'scary' but safe jump for Children in Need. It kind of fizzled out at the end.
I really pray that our youngsters following your example and going out on the streets tonight remain totally safe and do not become victims of something a lot more real and scarry.
Bad show this time - Evil is NOT fun, it's potentially dangerous!

About the Poppies: it is not just the media as you imply. I too always wear a Poppy. So does most of the population of UK and the Commonwealth. Being Irish is no excuse not to wear a Poppy. Many Irish citizens fought and died in both world wars. Several of them won VCs. Westlife can be excused because they are probably unaware of any history that goes back more than ten years or so.

But I thought the idea of an impressionist is that they are supposed to sound like the person they are taking off? Culshaw, at his first attempt, had A sounding as though he came from that little known part of Birmingham where they talk like Liverpudlians, but he got better and he did get his mannerisms. But Stephenson got nowhere near C's accent or mannerisms.
