What did you think of The One Show? Guest: Charles Dance

The One Show Team | 15:58 UK time, Thursday, 17 September 2009

Adrian and Christine were joined in the studio by actor Charles Dance.

Dan Brown's last four novels are the best selling adult fiction paperback novels in British history. Gyles Brandreth examined the author's output and why we love a good conspiracy theory.

One Show viewer Stan Burke got in touch to tell us that his bank were not playing fair over his mortgage repayments. Lucy Siegle investigated.

It's Spider Week, all week! In Yorkshire, Miranda Krestovnikoff talked to soldiers who have faced the fearsome camel spider in Iraq.

Also on the programme: Exclusive footage from the new Michael Jackson film. It showed the star preparing for his London concerts.

All that detail about being hung drawn and quartered - perfect timing to go with my lamb chops. Very useful - have now remembered to get liver out of the freezer and that I've run out of tomato sauce.

At least Adam Shaw slapped down the anti-capitalist eco-mentalist Lucy Siegle about RBS. The fact is the featured borrower is about to default on their legal agreement with the bank. Therefore any solution that RBS offers to alleviate the borrowers problems must go on their credit report. If the borrower won't accept the effect on his credit report then the bank is unable to help. Do we really want banks to fraudulently keep relevant information off credit reports? We can't in one hand harangue the banks for their dodgy behaviour and then on the other hand expect them to act dodgy for our personal gain.

Enjoyed Adams appearance tonight-hope he becomes a regular-good advice to always think of a mortgage as a "death pledge"-sympathised with couple in the film but if they go to an interest only mortgage and the rate goes up they could still be struggling-cannot resist peeking at the disaster on channel 5-cannot see it continuing with three presenters as they keep speaking over each other.

I'm sure that I must have misheard the defence of RBS refusing to accept an interest only arrangement. Did the "expert" really state that motgages were 12 times cheaper than this time last year? More misinformation in defence of the organisations who are themselves at least partly responsible for the dilema many of their customers are currently in.

Today's report by Lucy Siegle was extremely misleading and came across as a witch hunt against the bank who are only doing their job. Biased reporting of this kind will result in the show losing their credibility.

hokeykokeyalex - cheer up! One show sent Matt Allwright to Hull on Tuesday - thats in the North. Its also my home town and I admit to being slightly disappointed that it had to be yet another negative story about us...youth unemployment capital...but at least it was in the north. And this post should probably be in Tuesday's thread but never mind.

That spider clip was class. I'd have been behind the sofa too.

just like the RBS owe them millions and they will bend over and kiss yous a** but the comments by that so called (expert)saying that mortgage seekers must see into the future and ensure that they will be able to repay the loan should remember that it was idiots like Adam Shaw so called expert who mismanaged the accounts of bank customers to get the country into this state

Hokeykokeyalex...would guess that you are 'insecure from north of the border'. God, you're a bitter soul.

In actual fact the programme does cover the country and unsurprisingly a lot of what happens in this country, whether you like it or not, emanates from London.

Loved Christine's dive over the sofa.. mercifully for her she had trousers on, mind you, the usual mini skirt would have put a smile on on the faces of most of the blokes watching.

I think Christine did well to last as long as she did sitting on top of the sofa before she retreated behind it. Loved the fact that Adrian was behind the sofa with her.

Michael Jackson clip was shocking, he looked so thin!!!

Charles Dance what a true English Gentleman he is ...... legend:0)

I think The One Show is compulsive viewing and the website is superb but, oh dear, what were you thinking of last night with the piece describing details of being hung, drawn and quartered. We really don't need those details at any time, let alone when there are likely to be children around or we're about to have our supper. Very poor judgement chaps. The show gave me nightmares!
